Game-winner in the Garden

It was an unbelievable feeling to play against Allen Iverson on Nov. 26. I got to play against my favorite player. It was great. I talked to him before the game and he just told me that he loved the way I play and to keep playing hard. It just meant a lot to me because I was in Madison Square Garden, playing against A.I. It was just a great moment.
He came up to me and asked me how I was doing playing for Larry Brown. (editors note: Iverson played for Brown for six years in Philadelphia). I told him it was fine, that it was tough and it was a challenge. And he said “listen to the man because he’s going to make you better.” He just said to keep at it and keep on working hard.
The actual game was great, too. We won it in overtime when I hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer over Iverson. The game was fun because I really got a chance to play, and play a lot (a season-high 33 minutes). I had 17 points and six rebounds. And it helped to get to play against Iverson. To get to guard him and get a feel for how you play against a player in person who is that good.
I also managed to draw a couple of charges against him. To do a pretty good job on defense against Iverson, that just boosted my confidence and as a player, that made me feel pretty good.
The finish to the game was amazing. Iverson made a 3-pointer to tie it. After they scored we knew we just had to get a bucket. We didn’t want to call a timeout because we didn’t want them to get their good defenders in. So we just held with it. Steph (Marbury) brought it down and made a move to the basket. Iverson kind of helped a little bit by sagging down on him, and that freed me. When Steph got me the ball I just shot it. It felt good once it left my hand. I put arc on it and everything to get it over Iverson, and it just went in.
The celebration was great. A couple of the guys told me they didn’t think a Knicks rookie had ever hit a game-winner in the Garden at the buzzer.

Me and GP
Man Nate Rob, we miss you dude!! UW will never be the same and the bball squad misses you also. Don't know if there will ever be another Husky like you. Best wishes in the league.

Nate, so happy you're making it in the league, but miss you as a Dawg fan. I took my son to see you every time the Dawgs were in LA the last 2 years. The Pac 10 championship was right up there for me as a Dawg fan for all time thrills (only 2nd to winning the Natl Championship in the 92 Rose Bowl)! Hope to see you when the Knicks come to town.
Joe in LA (Sent Dec 1, 2005 8:03:04 PM)
Nate, when my Knicks (my favorite team ever) drafted you and Channing and David I said to myself "it's on"! My friends were ragging me about the Knicks rebuilding but I know that with the #1 coach in the NBA, and the energy that you guys can bring, by January or February, the Knicks will be rolling! Just have fun, work hard, and enjoy the ASSOCIATION!
Best regards, my brutha!

Nate:
We Knick fans love you! We love the energy, the fire, your incredible leaps, and your desire to win.
What a storybook moment that winning shot was for you so early in your career and against AI.
Can't wait till you dunk over Shaq! Hope to see you in a Knicks uniform for years to come!

Nate- Good luck learning under Coach Brown; as a Knick fan I am definitely pulling for you. Your ups are plain ridiculous and as time goes on you will master many other facets of the game. Here's to you and Curry running the inside-out on the league for years to come!

Hey Nate! I'm so happy that your doing so well in the NBA. I knew you would. It seems like such a long time ago that you were a freshman on the Husky football team and I'm glad that you get to show off your amaizing talents and energy with so many people. Good Luck in the future and enjoy NYC.
Steph, Seattle, WA (Sent Dec 1, 2005 10:18:13 PM)
Nate,
As a fan who grew up on Long Island and bleeds orange and blue, it is a pleasure to see a guy like you on the team to reenergize us and get us playing scrappy, tenacious defense all 94 feet of the court like we did in the '90s. Keep up the ball pressure and Larry will reward you with the minutes you need to show off your skills with shots lot the raindow 3 you hit to beat Philly!
Jon Riccio, San Francisco, CA (Sent Dec 2, 2005 10:41:55 AM)
Yo ,thank you for what you did for the UW!!!! I am from Bremerton and I have been dawg'd all my life for being a UW fan and now I can be even prouder!!!! I wish the sonics would have picked you and droppped one of our guards. Hopefully one day you can come home and lead the sonics to a championship. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!!!!!

Nate, that shot was ridiculous. Was it the best shot you've ever hit?

Anyways you are too good right now, we miss you here at UW! But we beat them zags, Keep it up my dude, and you will get that big contract in two years!
Darius , Seattle, WA (Sent Dec 5, 2005 4:12:11 PM)
Hey, Nate Dog. Like your game: the hustle especially. You think that after you help out with someone else's man that you could get back to yours. It seems that there is a lot of help going on with the Knicks but we don't get back to our man quick enough. I bet if we did, we'd be 8 and 8 by now.
H. Ray Mincey (Sent Dec 6, 2005 10:29:04 AM)
I know it's a though start to the season... but we (as a die heart knicks fan, I think I'm allowed to say we)are so close. Having the NBA ticket I get to see all the knicks games, and we are so much more compatitive then we were last year, that's all because of our rookie class. Well LB has a lil something to do with it too. Keep up the good work and best of luck with the rest of the season.
