Isiah brings fresh attitude
Posted: Tuesday, October 31 at 08:54 pm ET by Nate Robinson
It’s been great with Isiah Thomas running things as our new coach. Guys are playing hard, and he’s putting a lot of confidence in us, making our preparations for the season a great experience.
He’s talking about the playoffs, and that fresh attitude around the team has been wonderful, I can’t lie.
There’s definitely going to be a different look this season. Coach is going to let us go out and play ball and make things happen. I don’t want to give away too much stuff, but our transformation is going to be fun to watch happen.
We do some different things now when we practice.
The other day, coach wouldn’t let us leave until we made 10 straight free throws, with five players needing to make two each.
Well we couldn’t make free throws to save our lives, and were forced to run laps together as a team. Well finally we made our 10, as Steve, Stephon, myself, Quentin and Jamal made two each. This was a great way to bring us together as a team, to get us to root for each other.
Speaking of free throws, there’s an area I really want to improve in this season. I shot 75 percent last season, but this year I want to get it up to 85 percent or better. This could be a big weapon as I hope to have a great time going to the hole and drawing fouls.
It feels like a magical season ahead and I'm so excited it's finally starting.

Good signs
Hey Nate. I've been a huge Knicks fan for years.I love everything you bring to the table as a player. Good luck this season!

Nate, I can appreciate your optimism, but Isiah is a cancer on a team - look at his handling of Ron Artest in Indiana. Instead of being a coach and role model, he let Ron, "Be Himself" and we can see where that path led. Then again, Isiah was a thug of a player in his day, and no one should be surprised he has brought that baggage with him into the front office and other roles. Take a look at what his spending spree has done so far with the Knicks. Best of luck to you and the Knicks program, but you'll likely be singing a different song by mid-season.

Coach Thomas has been talking about the playoffs? I have been talking about making out with Jessica Alba; it's going to be a great year for everyone.

I think that the Knicks will still stink because all they have is a bunch of guards that Is(a)iah got for them as a bumbling GM. He may have been a Hall of Fame player but he is a Hall of Shamer when it comes to running things. MSG should try and lure Joe Dumars from the Pistons if they want an ex-player who knows what he's doing in the executive suite.

Hey Stevie Franchise from the home of B baller all due respect to the mighty Terp program. I know you will have a great season because of Coach Thomas style and tempo. I feel you and the mighty shoot em up nothing but net Stephon the berry will be one of the best starting back courts in the NBA. We are headed to the finals baby. Good luck Nate u and the team r going 2 need a lot of it... The upside is the amount of talent offensively u have and r capable of displaying... the downside is can Mr. Thomas get u guys 2 buy into a defensive mindset 2 have the ability 2 make stops at critical junctures of the game??

I would love seeing the Knicks on top again. When I would pay the price to see a Pro basketball game, the Knicks were world champs!

Congratulations, Nate.
The knicks will be succesful this season and hereafter under Isiah.

Isiah Thomas was hardly a "thug" in Detroit as the guy above wrote. Isiah taught me how to be competetive and unafraid amongst bigger and stronger giants. Isiah led by example and fought harder and with more guts than any player I have ever seen take the court. Pound for pound, inch for inch Isiah was the best player to pick up a basketball - ever. Anyone who calls Isiah a thug doesn't understand that defense is played with your heart and feet. Isiah has the heart of a lion and I wish him all the best in New York. Nate, I'm not telling you anything you don't alrady know, I'm sure. BTW ask Isiah about the guy who somehow got through security with an x-ray of his hand and was able to meet him. I bet he'll remember me!

Great game against the Memphis...I was on the edge of my seat. Way to step it up in the 3rd OT when Steph and Steve fouled out. Keep up the good work! If I were Atlanta I'd be worried.

Hey Nate, Don't listen to the haters.
There is nothing wrong with Isiah Thomas. He's the reason I was once a Pistons fan. And I think the Pistons played team ball, not Isiah ball.
Free throw practice is an excellent strategy. I love a team that can shoot free throws.
I'm sure there will be more strategies to help you all think as a team.
Good show winning your first road game and first game of the season !! but - Next time, do it in regulation :-)

Hello Nate,
NY Knick Hoops has been so bad for so long, some NY fans have had to change it up and support the Nets.
That is really sad, if you know what I mean.
Every new season brings hope, and if the coach is talking playoffs and the players are feeling they can get there, The New York Knicks have a chance.
Good Luck this season, and lets try to get some fans back out of New Jersey.

Nate,
look at those Pat Riley led Knick team's and see the passion on both sides of the floor--feel the spirit of the people in stands and at home watchin. The Knicks represent the everyday man who will not back down to anyone, not Jordan, not Stern not Larry "got problems" Brown. TO PLAY WITH HEART--that's what it means to be a Knick and what it means to be a Knickfan for life--you have the spirit, now you must make sure the rest of the team plays with it and respects it!
Wesley, New Jersey (Sent Nov 3, 2006 1:48:55 PM)
Hey Nate, Hope this year's Knicks have a lot more heart and desire to win! Can't say that the pass years' disasters have been solely the fault of the coaches or Thomas. After all all the Knicks received phat pay checks.
What can I say. The Knicks have the best job in the world. Get PAID for loosing and still get VIP treatment around town. Best of luck.
Edward (Sent Nov 3, 2006 4:38:13 PM)
Sorry NYC, but your Knicks are going back to the lottery. Even worse, the Bulls have the option of switching picks before the draft. YOu get to watch the Knicks suck all year, then Chicago get your lottery pick. Have fun
James, Chicago Il (Sent Nov 12, 2006 12:19:41 PM)
