Getting my kicks!
Posted: Friday, November 10 at 09:00 am ET by Nate Robinson
Guess what everyone ... I've got my own shoe! As part of the 25th anniversary of the popular Air Force One, Nike decided to re-release different versions of the shoe, including one just for me.
I've always been a big fan of the Air Force One, so it's pretty cool to have my own version. I got to go to a party and see the new shoe, and pose for some photos, as you can see here...
(Goodwin Sports Management)
I also met Tracy Teague, who designed the shoe. He said the new Air Force Ones have the best cushion and support of any shoe he's designed. Click here, or on the photo of Tracy and I below to watch the video.

And so without further ado, here is my shoe. Check out the Knicks colors! Make sure you let me know what you think.

Early-season report card
I'm sorry to tell you this. Although I'm a big fan, the shoes look awful. They look like they've been dipped in a sewer.
James Irving, London, UK (Sent Nov 10, 2006 4:42:28 AM)
This is really the urban look almost straight country
Charles (Sent Nov 10, 2006 9:17:31 AM)
Nate - few things... I'm not sure if this will post but if you read this, please take heed to what I'm saying.
1. you are a good player, i've been watching since you were at "U DUB"
2. the shoe is atrocious looking as are the knicks.
3. does coach thomas believe in defense? it certainly doesn't seem so.
seriously since the 90's, when the knicks were in the playoffs every year (and if not for a guy named jordan would've won a few titles), were exciting to watch and played with great hustle and d. guys like charles oakley, john starks, derek harper, etc. represented the city well. i implore you guys to play with some more heart and let nyc embrace the knicks b/c i'll tell you once you guys perform at the level you're capable of, you'll have the WHOLE city behind your back!

unclebear ,brooklyn n.y. (Sent Nov 10, 2006 1:11:37 PM)
First I think Nate is a great athlete and representative for the little man (6'0 & Under) but I think they should give you a more vibrant shoe this one looks (excuse my realness this is not personal) like a timberland boot, loose the cow hide brown.
Lee P Grant (Sent Nov 10, 2006 2:02:36 PM)
Nate,
Yo man, call me old school but the AF1's look much better with the removabvle strap. Lose the fixed strap and you can give the same shoe multiple looks. The colors are right Knicks Blue and True but lose the fixed strap.
A Knicks fan looking out.
Jon Alberto Bridgeport, Ct (Sent Nov 10, 2006 2:55:19 PM)
I think it should have UW colors, Nate!
In all seriousness, congratulations on your own shoe. That's awesome. Not so sure about the Knick colors, though. Doesn't mix too well with the brown leather look (which I like, btw).
Jay G, Seattle, Wash. (Sent Nov 10, 2006 4:54:59 PM)
When you were playing football as a freshman did you ever think you'd have your own basketball shoe?
Mallory Smith (Sent Nov 10, 2006 5:09:46 PM)
Nate, come on man that shoe is horrible! You have got to get them to change the crap brown body. Jordan, Barkley, hell even Lebron would tell them to redesign it. Don't settle for crap, you're to good.
Jeff Krause (Sent Nov 10, 2006 5:16:21 PM)
those shoes are hot!
Frank, Houston, TX (Sent Nov 10, 2006 6:56:04 PM)
Shoes are hot, man. Is that a gum sole on the bottom? If so then count me in and tell me where to scoop these.
Robert Montion, Cali (Sent Nov 10, 2006 9:18:09 PM)
Congrats, you're having a great start of what looks like a great career. Keep it up! The shoe is not too great I've always been a fan of the air window(idea)also shoe looks heavy, being a fellow balla I would keep it light and tight around ankles. Go white-blue-w orange trim thats hot!
Delvin Tillotson (Sent Nov 10, 2006 9:33:43 PM)
Yo, Nate. I go to college in New York and go to MSG whenever the Knicks play and a big reason why I go is because of you. You're the man! Your shoes are awesome! I love them. Don't let anyone downplay your shoes, or for that matter, the Knicks. The team is awesome, and your shoes are very cool, a well. Good luck, Nate!
West, New York City, NY (Sent Nov 10, 2006 10:13:43 PM)
yo nate, i'm a big fan from the bay area. i'm from san jose, but my niece goes to James Logan (ur old high school.) in Union City. anyway i like the shoes, but i think they would look alot cooler if all the brown parts were white, or black. i don't see the brown looking good with ANY of the jerseys you guys wear.
Warren, San Jose, California (Sent Nov 11, 2006 12:09:45 AM)
POTENTIAL is what comes to mind when I see those shoes on your feet.
Lets got Knicks!
Sydney, Australia (Sent Nov 11, 2006 1:18:27 AM)

Nick, Leeds (Sent Nov 11, 2006 12:29:09 PM)
Yo my man!!!
I dont think their are any real sneaker heads that commented on the shoe. First off BIGUP! Its a great accomplishment to have your own shoe, especially being that you are fairly new to the league. The brown colorway absolutley SICK! (IN A GOOD WAY) very creative. They will look hot with an away Knicks jersey. Think outside of the box people. There will be more colorways to come. Im sure. And for the guy who commented on the strap.. They are similiar to the penny hardaways which was an excellent bball shoe, light and comfy with just enough support. Keep doing ya thing man. Those are nice shoes that can be rocked on and off the court. I dont think they should get comfy comparing them to af1s cus lets face it that shoe is an impeckable classic. one love brutha. and remember whats the world without haters/constructive critics.. Nates new shoes "give me 2 pur"

I think you're great Nate! I wasn't a big fan of sports but my is a huge fan of the knicks. And now I am too but only because I love to see you play. You're the only reason why I watch! On the other hand the shoes aren't so great! The brown is ugly!but either way congratulations! Keep up the great work!

Hey Nate! Congratulations on the shoes! If I were still playing, I'd get a pair. I hope you guys can start stepping your game up. At least you're ahead of Boston...
Lauren, New York, NY (Sent Nov 12, 2006 4:26:06 AM)
Boys, a signature athletic shoe is not supposed to be a cookie cutter look for everyone. There is a whole subculture of 'shoe dogs' (athletic footwear collectors) that will love this shoe. A signature athletic shoe is designed to highlight trends in technology/color and textures, push the envelope in design, create talk/hype amongst consumers and capture the style of the athlete. The only thing that surprises me is that the first time the designer met Nate was at the product launch party. He should have met him and figured out what he was all about before designing a shoe for him. So if Nate doesn't like the brown, he should demand a change! (Yes, all this coming from a girl) And Nate, you rock!

I see you got to put some Rainier Beach flavor into the shoe as well. Hope the suede leather holds up in these wet Seattle winters. Don't listen to those above, gotta keep the strap to hold it down like back in Drama class.
Britt Corra, Seattle WA (Sent Nov 13, 2006 5:03:27 PM)
I think the people who don't like the shoe are HATERS!!!
By the way, I don't like the shoe.
diane g, Seattle, Washington (Sent Nov 13, 2006 7:52:54 PM)
yeeaaa nate! i dont even remember what shoes u were wearing when u and b. roy were playing a pickup game against us at the IMA. all i remember is that u had a fast break by yourself, and threw it off the backboard to yourself. big ups on the new shoes tho
Ben, formerly of Seattle, WA (Sent Nov 13, 2006 8:10:57 PM)
oh yah, cant forget bout them old RB days. and also when you used to run back kicks for the UW football squad. i still dont think anyone can catch up to you.

Hey Nate,
Tought loss Monday night against Cavs, you guys looked solid in the first quarter and a half but couldn't keep it up. At the end of the game it looked like LBJ gave you a little pep-talk. If you don't mind sharing...what did he say to you and how did the 2 of you become friends?
Good luck with the shoe and the Wizards on Wednesday.
Tim Edden, Dix Hills, NY (Sent Nov 14, 2006 10:58:30 AM)
Yo Nate I like the shoes for the most part but the brown is a little ugly. Anyway, I have to say that if you weren't on the Knicks I would have had to convert to a Nets fan because it was getting ugly. The spark you bring to the game every night is amazing. It seems the crowd only wants to cheer for you. Keep up the hard worl and you'll surely get to the starting lineup. By the way, what did Lebron say to you at the end of last night's game?
Matt, NJ (Sent Nov 14, 2006 3:40:06 PM)
yo nate this is Amit and Janeil we like to say you better than everyone except kobe and you will win the dunk contest again
peace dawg
amit (Sent Nov 15, 2006 3:35:19 PM)
you should change the brown to blue with an orange nike sign
Ryan, California (Sent Nov 15, 2006 10:55:20 PM)
Hey Nate,
Great game Wednesday night against the Wiz! It must have felt good to blow out a decent team at home. The second unit is looking ggod! I would say the Knicks second team is better then almost any other in the league!
Keep up the hard play, the short-handed Heat will be no match if you guys play like you did Wednesday night.
Tim Edden, Dix Hills, NY (Sent Nov 16, 2006 2:33:35 PM)
Found this on USA Today
"—After the New York game, LeBron James was seen talking to Knicks guard Nate Robinson, who had 19 points on Monday.
"I told him I liked the way he approaches the game of basketball," James said. "You can tell he loves the game." It used to be veteran players who gave James encouragement. "Now, I'm the old guy, I guess," said James, who turns 22 on December 30. Robinson already turned 22 in May"

Nate last night they played the 2002 Apple Cup. That interception you had was one the greatest plays in UW football history. I Had to get the NBA package on comcast to catch you and the Knicks.

im a big fun of you i would to have your vertical leap!!
i would like to ask how you ended up to have this amazing 43+inches vertical leap! have you ever done any vertical jump program in the past i mean, you have this leap because of your genetics or you have been doing weight program like squats deadlifts for a long time.
