Nate who?

Nate Robinson. I'm in my second season as a guard for the New York Knicks.

I was a first-round draft pick out of the University of Washington, where I helped take the Huskies to the Sweet 16.

It’s been a long road from high school. No one wanted to give me a chance in hoops at first – don’t know if they thought I was too small or what – but they underestimated me. I even went to Washington on a football scholarship before convincing Coach Romar I could make an impact on the hardwood. Now I'm gonna be the next big thing in the NBA -- even though I'm 5-foot-9.

Generous teammates

Posted: Friday, January 26 at 12:20 am ET by Nate Robinson

One great thing about the Knicks is that we have good team chemistry where the guys all care about each other. An example of this happened when I returned from my suspension.

I was not paid while I was sitting out, but my teammates got together and helped me out. Jerome James, Quentin Richardson, Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford and Stephon Marbury all pitched in and gave me $10,000.

It wasn’t a huge amount compared to what I lost, but that’s not the point. The point is that they cared … that’s the main thing. It was really cool, and just shows what a great group of vets we have on the team. I wouldn’t know what to do without ’em.

It just shows what kind of team chemistry we have. People like to talk about the money we make as players. The money is great, don’t get me wrong. But that’s not what we play for. We play because we love the game, and we love each other as teammates.

That was cool. That's love right there, no question. You have to returnr the favor by makeing smarter decisions when things go down like it did in the Denver game, ya know. Yo Nate, keep your head and make your mark in this league.

Good to hear, Nate. I know the Knicks get some bad press for having a lot of the same position players--all of whom have to compete for playing time--but it's good that you guys have each other's backs. Who would you say is really emerging as the leader of the team? Malik Rose? Stephon?

Why don't you donate that money to a charity? There are some people that make less than that a year.

awww Nate that was really nice of our teammates. they all seem like a really generous group of people especially steph because of what he's doing withe starbury line and everything. btw, how about that game on saturday

That is interesting... I have never heard of anything like that before.

GO KNICKS, please make the playoffs!

Keep it real dawg. Man- have you Seen Hans Gasser carrying the load out west? He's the last line of the Nate Rob tree.

Nate,
I remember when you were playing at Rainier Beach High School. With the Stewart twins at that time right? I think you were a freshman when I was a senior there. It really must be great playing with Jamal Crawford, since he played at Rainier Beach too. Although I'm a big Sonics fan, it's really nice watching you play for the Knicks.

You are making over 1.1 million dollars this season and your teammates felt like you couldn't get by on only 1 million? Maybe you should look at the entire world and not just basketball sometimes. Do you even think about things like Iraq, Darfur or even American homelessness?

This comment is for Roger: Dude..stop hatin. Seriously...God don't like ugly. Nate isn't just making a living for himself! He's got a huge family (I'm talking just nuclear)...so if someone cuts a man's wages (no matter how large or small) bills still due, mouths still hungry, school loans still got to be paid...etc etc! So unless you become his accountant, I suggest you don't speak on what you don't know. *Nate, that was very kind of your teammates to come out their pockets...God bless!*
