Nate who?

Nate Robinson. I'm in my second season as a guard for the New York Knicks.

I was a first-round draft pick out of the University of Washington, where I helped take the Huskies to the Sweet 16.

It’s been a long road from high school. No one wanted to give me a chance in hoops at first – don’t know if they thought I was too small or what – but they underestimated me. I even went to Washington on a football scholarship before convincing Coach Romar I could make an impact on the hardwood. Now I'm gonna be the next big thing in the NBA -- even though I'm 5-foot-9.

Time to focus on playoffs

Posted: Monday, February 19 at 02:45 am ET by Nate Robinson

Now that All-Star weekend is behind us, it's time to focus on the second half of the season. Looking at the standings now, we are sitting on 23 wins, matching the number we had all of last season.

I know we still have a long way to go, but I can’t help but feel excited about the improvements we’ve made since last season.

We’re the best rebounding team in the East and one of the better scoring teams, too. If we cut down on our turnovers and just keep chipping away, we can move up in the East, and even become a playoff team. I really believe that.

In fact, I think we can win our division, honestly. We just finished up a tough road, and we held our own, which I think will really boost our confidence. A little five-or-six game winning streak would really be nice of course.

Then, looking ahead at the schedule, we need to play well in two games against Toronto in March. If we can at least get a split in those games, and then win the games we’re supposed to win, we’ll be right in the thick of things.

Sure, things might be different if we were in the West. The Rockets, for example, are currently in third place in the Southwest Division, and the fifth seed overall in the West. Yet they would have the best record in the East.

But we can’t worry about that, of course. We just have to keep working hard, having fun, and take advantage of our situation to move up in the standings.

We’ve gotten way, way better since last season, it’s great to see how we’ve improved. The sky is the limit in the second half of the season.

Which dunk was the dunk that had never been done before? I still think the judges didn't take into enough consideration the fact that a 5'9 guy was dunking with authority. Not only are you shorter than all other dunkers, but your wingspan is shorter making it that much more difficult to dunk. You are the man.

I like what the knicks are doing with our young players. They should have done this as soon as Patrick Ewing was gone.

Hey Nate nice try in the dunk off. I hope you go back next year because although there was some creativity this year it seems like guys are running out of material. If you don't come back next year and especially with the new rules this year with the age cut off for the event, the dunk contest may get weak. Let your fans know if you will return to the dunk off next year or if it is too soon to say.

Go to it - Good Luck.

I agree Nate, your team has improved so much! I'm so excited for you guys! Hey, how psyched were you for David Lee for his MVP award in the rookie/soph game?? That made your team look so good, and your second place finish in the dunk contest helped too! I hope you guys can make the playoffs this year, I'm rooting for you!!

Dear Nate,

As a New Yorker I must say that I am so proud of our basketball team. Cheering for the Knicks is no longer taboo and that is a result of all of you guys playing hard and playing hard down to the very last second of the game. I must say that the fans appreciate you because not only do you have talent but you also have a lot of heart. I wish you and the rest of the team the best of luck and hopefully I'll be cheering for you guys in the playoffs.

The missing pick for the knicks is Pau Gasol. make the trade for this guy. Send Channing Frye and Malik Rose packing for this guy.

c'mon lets be realistic here for a minute, sure you've improved from last season - which wasnt difficult as you couldnt sink any lower- but given the overall potential you guys should be a playoff team in the weak East. I mean Marbury,Crawford,Francis,Curry,Lee... thats more than enough to make at least a playoff 1st round team. You shouldnt be satisfied with "having a shot at the playoff " , you must make them ! anything less than that will be a failure.

I am the biggest Knicks Fan in Boston! Just wanted to say you are one of my favorite players in the league and I too think the Knicks can and will be a playoff team very soon. Also, being around your height...and only being able to do those dunks on an 8' hoop..... insane...you are the man.

Nate wassup bro u guys have gotten WAY better including you but yeah u prob dont remember me but i used to play b-ball wit u at Orca and R.B

Nate...5'9" doesn't bother me!! You are a cutie pie and that's REAL TALK! Hug yo momma for me! -BlackDiamond

Have you noticed that the Knicks are playing better since you were suspended and your playing time was cut. The Knicks have a good chance of slipping in with the 8th seed as long as everyone keeps their emotions in check.

yo nate, yeh i heard about your dunk that you were suppose to do but it got canceled cuz of saftey reasons

haha you woudl hve won for sure with it

ehh it dsont matter, you'll be in the playoffs and the celtics wont

NY Knicks ruleee

Hi Nate
I've been hearing some rumours linking your name to Seattle in some sort of trade. I think you would spark the team and get more butts in the seats to help sell the arena deal! Anyway, rumours are just rumours, Good luck to you wherever you are!

Hey Nate.
Yeah i think the knicks can do it with wade out the doors are open in the east.
Defense is gonna get you guys where you wanna be you have all the gun's just need the hitmen to shoot em off.
Good luck and ill be following the progression.

Hi Nate!
I am Spanish girl New York Knicks' fan. You are one of my favorites players, with David Lee. I can watch the matches with the computer. I would like to see you playing more, you are a great player!
Don't go to another team, please! ;)
¡¡Good luck!!

Note: Sorry, I'll practice my english, haha.

I love Nate Robinson......:-))))

By the way Nate, polish up your 3pt shooting. The team could really use it!!!!!

Nate,my man. This is an unfortunate circumstance for your team (Jamal's Injury). However, this is your time to SHINE!!Remain focused and listen to everything Isiah tells you to do and the team will benefit as well as us,your fans!!!Keep your head up and hopefully I'll be able to watch you kick butt in the PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!!!!1

If the Nets loose to Dallas and you guys beat Seattle on Tuesday, NY will move into the 8th spot in the East Playoff race. Very Cool! I knew you guys could make it.

Good luck and give my best to Jamal and his ankle.

nate buddy i think the new rules have weakened the competition but more so the dunk out is losing it prestige and we need alot of inovations. Howard putting a sticker on on top of the back board was cool and the dunk you put down was insane but if they dont change it up and make it interesting no one will want to watch it any more, thats why we need you there next year. To make a solid run and to show every one that its not all been done

The A Man , Knicks Rule!

hey man, I heard yoyr down real bad with the flu......get better man!

Nate,
Need a favor Jared Jeffries has attended the Abunassar Impact Basketball training at the Home Depot Center out her in LA. We are looking to have Myron Jr attend, but would like to know if you could ask Jared if he thinks the program is worth it (16 yr old sophomore)... rather costly. Pleasae check it out...I'll love you forever...well I'm going do that any way...Aunti Angie

Hey Nate:
Hope you're feeling better from that horrible flu...Yuck.
I watched the game against Washington last night and you seemed better the way you tackeled Steve after his buzzer beater.
Anyway, I'm feeling good about the playoffs this year...I think we have a good chance.
GO KNICKS!

I hope you are feeling better, Nate. I see that you played 3 minutes at Washington.

We are in shock here in Seattle now that UW is not even going to the NIT. Do you have time to watch any of the NCAA tournament?

Do you get to vote for Rookie of the Year? Would you vote for Brandon?

I'm hoping David and Jamal will be better soon. Give a shout out to them. How bad are their injuries, do you know? Stay healthy - we need you.

Good Luck against the Raptors, that's a team you need to find ways to beat.
