Nate who?

Nate Robinson. I'm in my second season as a guard for the New York Knicks.

I was a first-round draft pick out of the University of Washington, where I helped take the Huskies to the Sweet 16.

It’s been a long road from high school. No one wanted to give me a chance in hoops at first – don’t know if they thought I was too small or what – but they underestimated me. I even went to Washington on a football scholarship before convincing Coach Romar I could make an impact on the hardwood. Now I'm gonna be the next big thing in the NBA -- even though I'm 5-foot-9.

Finding my groove

Posted: Thursday, March 29 at 12:08 am ET by Nate Robinson

I had one of my best games the other night against my old college teammate Brandon Roy and the Portland Trail Blazers. I made eight 3-pointers and scored a season-best 31  points. The scoring wasn’t a career high (I scored 34 last season vs. Philly, and 32 against Cleveland.

But the eight threes was more than I’ve ever made in my life! I think I made six 3-pointers once in high school, and I made 5 or 6 in a game at Washington.

I don’t know what happened, I was just feeling it though.

Maybe it was the music I was listening to on my iPod before the game. I went old school that day, listening to Rick James, Aretha Franklin (R-E-S-P-E-C-T!). You know, stuff like that.

Maybe I should always listen to that music before a game, but I’m not superstitious. I believe in God, and in playing hard every night. If He has a big game in store for me, I’ll be ready.

That game was a lot of fun. It was good to get out there and put up some shots, and it was good to see Brandon again (I gave him my jersey after the game). The only bad part about the game is that we lost.

You are always amazing, nate, even when you score zero points and make 8 turnovers. :) New Yorkers love energy, effort, defense, and above all, HEART. And you've got that all. I love watching you play. Please oh PLEASE take us to the playoffs. NY deserves it this year. It's been too long.

By the way, at tonight's game against the Cavs, I noticed that when Usher's "YEAH!" song came on, David Lee was singing along to Ludakris' rap lines. Is David gansta, or what?

love, jean

Nate,

I missed that game and in Canada we RARELY get knick games on tv. Do you have that game against portland on tape? Cause man I would love to see that, bet no one has ever asked you that. Let me know if you can get a tape of that game and keep being the same ol nate robinson

Hi Nate,

Thanks for the response back sometime ago...and for remembering who I was...afterall you're Ballin' now.

It's good to see you, Brandon, and Jamal in the league now. I also thought Tre and Will Conroy could make it. I saw that Will had a brief stint with LA. Whether those guys get there or not I hope they stay straight so other kids can look up to you guys. Good luck the rest of the season, and keep chill...

I love watching you play, Nate. It's good that you're focused on your game, but you guys need to pull it together as a team! It's crunch-time. The missed free throws and mistakes down the stretch are killing any hopes of the playoffs. I'm pulling for you guys...time to show us what you're made of and give us a reason to cheer after the regular season's over!
