Nate who?

Nate Robinson. I'm in my second season as a guard for the New York Knicks.

I was a first-round draft pick out of the University of Washington, where I helped take the Huskies to the Sweet 16.

It’s been a long road from high school. No one wanted to give me a chance in hoops at first – don’t know if they thought I was too small or what – but they underestimated me. I even went to Washington on a football scholarship before convincing Coach Romar I could make an impact on the hardwood. Now I'm gonna be the next big thing in the NBA -- even though I'm 5-foot-9.

All-Star fun

Posted: Thursday, April 5 at 10:36 pm ET by Nate Robinson

Sorry it has taken me so long, but I wanted to tell you all about the All-Star weekend. I was a lot of fun and I had a wonderful time. It was hot there, but what a great time. My Mom and my Dad and my stepdad came out to Vegas.

I had a blast in the dunk contest, even  though I came in second place. And when Gerald Green went to jump over me, I had to put my shirt over my head for a second. I was thinking he’d clear me, but I didn’t want to look. He hit my shoulder a little bit but it was no big deal.

Overall it was great fun, though. Shaq talked some trash to me from the stands –- he’s a funny guy. And I talked to Vince Carter in the lobby afterwards. He said he thought I did well, and my scores should have been higher.

Dwight Howard’s dunk where he put the sticker on the backboard was amazing, and his score definitely should’ve been higher. That’s a 10 all day long.

The other fun thing I did that weekend was go into the lobby at the Palms Hotel where I was staying and interview fans for MSG. I just asked people if they knew who Nate Robinson was, but I didn’t tell them who I was. They all said they knew who it was, but no one recognized me. I just kept asking different questions, maybe three or four of them, before I told them it was me.

It was fun, and I got some pretty funny reactions from people.

After the All-Star break I got sick really bad. I got it after I got back, I was getting on a bus for one of our trips and I had to get off and go throw up. It was bad.

I was out of action for like eight or nine days, and I spent five or six days in the hospital. I tried to practice, but then I’d go home and throw up some more.

I lost like 12 pounds, and I was so skinny because I couldn’t eat, only drink water and Gatorade. It was just crazy and I was even scared a little bit.

Now I’m back up to 178 pounds, when I am normally somewhere from there to 182. So I’m back at full strength.

It was tough sitting out and just watching the games on TV. I felt out of shape but I just wanted to get out there.

I’m on a new diet now and am trying to eat better. Hopefully that will help me stay healthy. Makes me feel better, too. I have a lot of energy now.

saw the bucks game yesterday i was rollin wen eddy hit that 3... but i was glad to see u just LAY THE BALL UP INSTEAD OF DOIN WAT U DID IN CLEVLAND IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR

Hey Nate,

Sounds like you had a great game at Milwaukee! I'm happy to see that you're playing more. (But it's too bad that some of the team are out with injuries.)
I enjoy watching your stats improve and seeing you had more assists in Milwaukee, but I guess your assist stats won't go up much at this late date of the season. You're just about at par for the league averages in most areas and above for the 3 point shots. Maybe you don't look at the stats, maybe it's not a good thing to do... what do you think? I see it as a good thing when they improve over the season and it's a good way to follow your progress when we hardly get to see Knicks games here on the left coast.
Of course, there are things we can't see by looking at stats. I'll bet you have the most rebounds of anyone under 6 feet tall.
Good luck for all the final regular season games. I hope you can win all of them!
And good luck with changing your diet... it's always good to eat nutritious foods as opposed to empty calorie ones.

nate i love you. lol. your great

Nate, you're the tightest! Way to rep the 206! I used to watch you play at Rainier Beach, watched you win the Apple Cup in Pullman. You're a true team leader. I love your blog. Will you do me a favor, though? Convince those Rainier Beach kids to go to UW. We should have gotten Rodrick and Lodrick. Keep up the good work!

A man, this is your cousin Jerome, when do your shoes come out? There is this website selling them, are they real?

I saw a video of you doing a couple of dunks for the dunk contest. If you would have done the underlegs reverse, made the 360 backboard dunk, and jump over the table with the woman sitting. YOU WOULD HAVE WON AGAIN

I agree. I liked Dwight Howard’s dunk also. He should've got straight up 50 on that dunk.

hey can u throw down a 720 just wondering
